If I Had...

If I had infinite octopus hands
I'll be so many things at once.
You'll see me working on the earthy land
And sitting on untended gardens for lunch.
I'll be studying botanical species from a worn-out book
Illustrated by botanists years ago
And gather parts of plants I took
And spread them across my desk in rows and rows.

If I had infinite octopus hands,
You'll see me working underground.
An oil lamp will guide my way
In awaiting darkness that will fade.
My eyes will lit like orbs of fire
As they stare at crystalline solids in opalscent shades.
My whispers slipping from my lips
Will break the thousand silence of the caves.

If I had infinite octopus hands,
My eyes will always look above to the night sky
And recognize the distant blue stars
That will remain a mystery in a lifetime.
Only a human invention would aid my eyes
In studying what goes beyond this Earth.
And I'll smile in contemplation
That we all came from these bright stars.

If I had infinite octopus hands,
I'll experiences different paths of life
That I've wandered like a traveler in daydreams
That have given much pleasure to my mind.
If I had infinite octopus hands,
I'll have infinite possibilities
That can manifest despite mortal time
Ab aeterno.
